Bob von Rekowsky is an investor, strategist and team leader with global professional and personal interests. He joined J. Locke & Co in Fall 2020.

Mr. von Rekowsky built his experience over a 28-year career at Fidelity Investments, last serving as the Firm’s Emerging Markets Strategist. His experience as a professional investor rests heavily on global markets, focused predominantly in emerging-market equity and debt. Mr. von Rekowsky built a highly-experienced, dedicated emerging-market equity team that delivered top-decile performance and won new institutional-client mandates. Through a tumultuous, ten-year investment landscape, Mr. von Rekowsky delivered high, double-digit returns in seven out of ten years he managed emerging-market equity funds for US, Canadian and overseas investors and clients. During his tenure, assets increased five fold for the flagship Fidelity Emerging Market Equity Fund to $2.8 billion, while total AUM for the funds he managed grew to $13 billion.

Mr. von Rekowsky joined Fidelity’s municipal bond desk in the Fixed-Income Department in 1989. He moved to the newly-created Global Research Group in 1993, responsible for sovereign debt recommendations in the Europe, Mideast and Africa (EMEA) region. Adding emerging market corporates to his responsibilities in the High Yield Department, Mr. von Rekowsky then relocated to Fidelity’s London office in January 1996. By mid-1998, he became a full-time equity analyst working for Fidelity International Ltd (FIL). He split his time analyzing UK, European and emerging-market equities. Mr. von Rekowsky became Team Leader for EMEA equities from 2001 to 2003 and associate portfolio manager for the EMEA region on the flagship Fidelity Emerging Markets Equity Fund by year-end 2002.

Mr. von Rekowsky returned to Boston in 2004 to take over the helm for all of Fidelity and FIL’s retail and institutional global emerging-market equity funds. He led his dedicated EM Team to turn around a Fund that was once last amongst peers to 99% beaten in just two years time and remained in the top decile by end-1997. He earned 1st place awards from both Lipper and S&P for multi-year periods in 2006, 2007 and 2008 for his FIL-managed EM Funds.

Mr. von Rekowsky holds a MA in political science from Northeastern University and a MSc in Finance from Brandeis University.  Mr. von Rekowsky serves as a Board Member of Ameriabank CJSC, a universal bank headquartered in Yerevan, Armenia. He is a member of the Boston Committee on Foreign Relations, Boston Economic Club and the Hamilton Trust.  Mr. von Rekowsky’s professional background reflects his personal interest in finance, economics, international affairs and politics. His personal interests include photography, guitar, cooking, and when possible, travel. He remains a life-long student of Russian politics.
